Infrastructure Scaffolding

CBH

OVERVIEW

Unlike other CBH projects, access was needed to the interior circular wall of the silos. There were 16 silos, 30metres high and 12 metres in diameter.

THE CHALLENGES

The conventional fixed scaffolding or swinging staged platforms were not practical or cost effective. There was limited access – a small chute at the cone base and the health and safety standards were stringent given the confined space and tight timeframes. Finally, the solution needed to be cost effective – required to work on four silos at the same time over four stages.

Using ScafWest’s patented Flexitruss system, we built a circular 1.2m wide platform with no interference to the wall that needed work. The platform was raised & lowered with electric winches. You can see in the image above men in yellow standing on the platform, which was wider and safer than conventional systems, and provided tradespeople with a much better workspace.

THE OUTCOME

The innovation for this project was brought about our problem seeking problem solving mindset and our genuine desire to deliver the best outcome for our clients. It help cement our relationship with the CBH as their preferred scaffolding provider.
